Women Care is Hiring a Lab Tech Near Mansfield, OH

Women's Care of Mansfield an OB/GYN Private Practice is seeking a full time Lab Lead (MLT/MT). This position will be from Monday through Friday occasional weekends (only when patients are scheduled).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Possesses a good working understanding of the practice.

2. Maintains and protects confidentiality.

3. Works effectively with other team leaders and keeps the department and physicians informed of changes.

4. Selects the most appropriate test methodology for the lab and monitors test volume to assure feasibility of testing

5. Keeps lab enrolled in an approved proficiency-testing program. Establishes quality control programs for each analyte tested and ensures results and performance of testing.

6. Keeps instrument maintenance current and has a working knowledge of all instrumentation in the lab so effective trouble-shooting is possible.

7. Identifies training needs and assures testing personnel receive regular in-service training.

8. Evaluates competency of all testing personnel.

9. Orders all supplies for lab and works to keep expenses down.

10. Maintains all laboratory records.

11. Stays up to date on issues involving the lab.

12. Accessible to lab personnel at all times testing is performed to provide on-site, telephone, or electronic support.

13. Provides supervision of personnel performing moderate and high complexity testing.

14. Monitors test analysis and specimen examination to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.

15. Resolves technical problems and ensures corrective actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.

16. Establishes effective interpersonal relationships with physicians, nurses, and other members of the health team.

17. Communicates in a manner that conveys mutual understanding and respect.

18. Ensures patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly.

19. Provides orientation to all testing personnel.

20. Evaluates and documents the performance of all testing personnel as required.

21. Ensures adherence to COLA accreditation requirements.

22. Performs delegation of duties as specified in lab policy.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

1. Bachelor’s degree in laboratory science in medical technology, chemistry, biology, microbiology, or related source AND 1-4 years lab experience in the non-waived specialty/subspecialty of service, preferred OR Associates degree in medical technology from an accredited college with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a lab setting, preferably 4 years.

2. National certification by one of the following: American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT) preferred.

3. Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
